Islamic Ethics

ABOUT CHARITY:

Won’t you feel good when you help a friend? If so, then you have done an act of charity. Naturally, doing an act of charity includes extending financial help. Such a help, of course, is very important to the needy, the destitute and those people in special unfortunate situations. Bur even if you extend a helping hand other than financial, you will have done a good charitable work.

Islam urges us to do the good work at CHARITY:

See what Almighty God says in the Holy Quran:

الَذینَ یُنفِقونَ اَموالَهُم بِالیلِ وَالنَهارِ وَالسِرَ وَلانیةً فَلَهُم اَجرٌ عِندَ رَبَهُم

"THOSE WHO IN CHARITY SPEND OF THEIR GOODS BY NIGHT AND BY DAY, IN SECRET AND IN PUBLIC, HAVE THEIR REWARD WITH THEIR LORD.”

(AL-Quran II-276)

So our material spending, be it in secret or in public, will be well recognized by the Almighty, and we will be rewarded very handsomely.

A society where the poor needs help, be it material or otherwise, will benefit a great deal if others can extend a helping hand. Help to anyone in need, is a good act of charity. Every charity will certainly reap its reward with the Almighty, and every act of charity will also make you feel better inside.

See what God’s Messenger, Muhammad (P.B.U.H) has said:

اَما طَهُ اِلا ذِی عَن الطَریق صدقة

"REMOVAL FROM PATH OF THAT WHICH IS HARNFUL THINGIS: CHARITY.”

کل معروفٍ صَدَقة وَ اِن منَ المعروفِ اَن تَلقَی اَخاکَ

بِوجهِ طلقٍ وَ اَن تَفرغَ مِن دَلوکَ فی اِناءِ اَخیکَ

“EVERY GOOD DEED IS CHARITY, AND IT IS A GOOD DEED IF YOU MEET YOUR BROTHER (IN BELIGION) WITH A CHEERFUL LOOK, AND IT IS A GOOD DEED IF YOU EXTEND A HELPING HAND TO YOUR BROTHER.”

وَ رَجُلٍ تَصَدقَ بِصَدَقَةٍ فَاَخفا ها حَتی لا تَعلمَ

شِمالُهُ ما تُنفِقُ یِمِینهُ

“THE BEST OF ALMS IS THAT WHICH THE RIGHT HAND GIVES, AND THE LEFT HAND KNOWS NOT OF.”

“YOUR SMILING IN YOUR BROTHER’S FACE IS CHARITY; AND YOUR EXHORTING MANKIND TO VIRTUOUS DEEDS IS CHARITY; AND YOUR PROHIBITING THE FORBIDDEN IS CHARITY; AND YOUR SHOWING MAN THE ROAD WHEN THEY HAVE LOST THEIR WAY, IS CHARITY; AND YOUR ASSISTING THE BLIND, IS CHARITY.”

“CHARIYT IS A DUTY UPON EVERY MUSLIM. HE WHO HAS NOT THE MEANS, LEF HIM THEN DO A GOOD ACT OR ABSTAIN FROM AN EVIL ONE, AND THAT IS HIS CHARITY.”

THE BEST OF ALMSGIVING IS THAT WHICH SPRINGS FROM THE HEART, AND IS UTTERED BY THE LIPS TO SOFTEN THE WOUNDS OF THE INJUED.”

Let us ask some interesting questions:

Are you a sincere and a dedication Muslim? Are you kindhearted and have a charitable disposition? Then show it by extending your helping hand.

Almighty God has given you a lot, and it is important that you share the wealth. If you give the needy of your money then you have helped a fellow human being in times of difficulties, and you have put your Islamic spirit into good use.

But helping can also be in many forms. You can help even with a cheerful disposition, a kind and considerate word, a sympathetic feeling and the like.

ALL these acts are acts of charity, and giving charity should be a necessary part of your every day life.

Naturally, you do these things not to show off to other people or to boast about them. You do them out of a religious obligation, you do them for the sake of God and for the sake of humanity.

A Good Muslim will Remember:

1.      Giving charity is a moral religious obligation.

2.      Charity can be in giving money to the needy.

3.      Charity can also be in extending good deeds to others and offering a helping hand.

4.      You give charity not to show off or brag about, it is better, even, not to talk about it.

5.      God will reward you well for your charity.
