Islamic Ethics

IN REGARD TO WOMEN

Islam encourages us to be very careful about the position of women in society, and to take them on equal terms, in regard to their duties, rights and merits. This was even at times when women were treated badly and some held them in contempt.

See what the Quran says:

وَ لَهُنَ مِثلُ الذی عَلَیهِنَ بالمعروفِ

“AND FOR WOMEN ARE RIGHTS OVER MEN SIMILAR TO THOSE FOR MEN OVER WOMEN.”

There is absolutely no difference between men and women in relation to God, both are responsible for their action and both will be rewarded according to his or her merits.

Let us see what God’s Messenger has said about women:

اکملُ المومنین ایماناً احسَنُهُم خُلُقا

وَ خیارُکُم خیارُکُم لنِسائهِم

“THE MOST PERFECT AMONG THE FAITHFUL IS ONE WHOSE MORAL CHARACTER IS THE BEST, AND THE BEST AMONG YOU ARE THOSE WHO ARE KINDEST TO THE WOMEN.”

“THE WORLD AND ALL THINGS IN IT ARE VALUABLE; BUT THE MOST VALUABLE THING IN THE WORLD IS A VIRTUOUS WOMEN.

“GOD ENJOINS YOU TO TREAT WOMEN WELL, FOR THEY ARE YOUR MOTHERS, DAUGHTER, AND AUNTS.”

“THE RIGHTS OF WOMEN ARE SACRED. SEE THAT WOMEN ARE MAINTAINED IN THE RIGHTS ASSIGNED TO THEM.”

Those saying were said in a time when women mistreated taken advantage of, disrespected, and rights were barely accessable.

Islam has encouraged Muslims to give women their rights, to treat them kindly and well it has elevated the status of women where it should be.

If she happened to be your mother or your sister, aunt or niece, she ought to be well respected and love, well cares for and appreciated.

A good woman, of decency and virtue, is a great thing in itself. She is most valuable and most prized.

A woman is delicate, with sensitivity that should be well guarded. But at the same time she is to be considerate of her husband and children and be good to them as they are good to her. It, then, become a mutual endeavor each side helping, appreciating and respecting the other.

A Good Muslim Will Remember:

1.      The rights of women are sacred in Islam.

2.      A virtuous, good and decent woman is most valuable.

3.      A woman is sensitive, be it emotionally or otherwise.

4.      The responsibility is mutual, and the woman should also do her share in the welfare of the family, as do the men.
